I know that chivalry in modern times is sometimes considered to be degrading to women, but just because a woman CAN open a door doesn't mean she HAS to. I guess I a romantic, longing for the olden days, lol. It's just that none of my guyfriends really do stuff like that...we are more just equal, but can't we be equal and still have him hold the door for me or whatever? Same with dating, the boy asks the girl out. All power to women who have the courage to ask a man out, but I can't do it, and again, I am a romantic traditionalist with that kind of thing.

Chivalry is long from dead, Sarah. It has definitely radically transformed in society from what it was 100 years ago, but we have revolving doors and automatic doors now. I think that women still very much appreciate when you pull out their chair, hold the door, put on their coat, and wait for them to eat first. Some women, however, get offended with such acts. I'd be patient and relax knowing that there are still hopeless romantics out there that cry after watching Notting Hill and Love Actually because they know the possibilities of what can exist. At least I didn't admit to crying after the Wedding Planner!
usually i love when a guy holds the door for me whether im going out with him or not. i think that its adorable when men do hold doors and such but i dont think (unless u ask) that its really fair to expect it all the time. guys can hardly read english let alone our minds how should htey know if we find it offensive or not. parents used to teach boys to behave this way but chivalry is no longer thought of as a necessary subject. if hteyre not taught how should they know?
Ok so today i opened a door for a teacher because her hands were full and she said, "Chivalry is still alive in young men." An i was like sure lets go with that. But, is still do think girls and guys are considered equal. Guys dont open doors for girls, or stuff like that. And we should to respect them. I WILL SARAH. I WILL DISPLAY CHIVALRY.
